#SnippetSunday: The Rooster and the Wolf 3

Welcome back to Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors on SamTWillis.com!  I cheated a little this week, wound up with thirteen sentences, because at eight to ten sentences it just didn’t make any sense.  I think it’s the first time I’ve cheated, and I promise not to do it again until the next time I do it, so don’t hold it against me, okay?

“You don’t quit.  Nowhere to go.”

Reaching that stupid zipper was always a struggle, Jake felt like he was choking himself stretching his arm back like that.  “And dead.  I been losing it, Eli, even before this.  Can’t remember where I put stuff, can’t remember if the door’s locked.  Wake up in the night and don’t know where I am.”

The wolf grinned down at him, never blinking.  “They make pills for that.”

“Pills so I don’t care I don’t know where I am.”  Got the zipper, down it went.  The room’s temperature dropped twenty, thirty degrees.  Jake’s t-shirt stuck to him with sweat.  “What’s that say, when the only way to stop being afraid of the poison is to take more poison?”  The green rooster suit fell on the floor with a heavy slap, pooling at Jake’s feet.

There’s my Snippet for the week, I hope you enjoyed it.  If you did, I encourage you to leave a comment, perhaps explore the rest of my site, and maybe Sign Up for my mailing list.  All it takes is a name and an email and it nets you free copy of Break,  as well as some bonus content for Headless in the near future.
